This post serves to provide a second update to the many and varied artists, crafters, designers, makers, recyclers, upcyclers and vintage sellers who applied to participate in the Portsmouth and Southsea Consortium’s Etsy Made Local market this coming December 2015.
In our first Etsy Made Local selection process update, on 29 July 2015, we anticipated being able to make the first results known to applicants from 07 August 2015. As of 13:00 on Saturday 08 August 2015, we are still waiting for a minimum of two invited panel members to return to us with the results of their consideration of all applications received.
We understand the inconvenience and frustration associated with waiting for a response; particularly, when a deadline by which one expects to receive one has passed. We hope you’ll understand the need for us to commit to a rigorous selection process, and that our reliance on the assistance of external parties may result in a process affected by their other commitments, as has happened in this case. As our panel members are taking part in the Etsy Made Local selection process as a gesture of goodwill, we cannot reasonably expect them to interrupt their normal business to undertake this task, when to do so might impact on matters of personal or professional importance; we understand this, and hope that all applicants waiting for the outcome of this process do, too.
We will place ourselves in contact with those from whom we are still waiting for results, and hope to be able to announce participants with as short a delay as possible. We will provide another update on Friday 14 August 2015 should we not have results by then and, at this point, we will discuss an alternative method of finalising the results of the selection process in order to prevent further delay.
